This covered bridge was named after the Baker Family. Milton Baker was a carpenter in Rushville, where he lived with his wife and 7 children. He served as the Justice of the Peace in Richland Township and as the Mayor of Rushville. Originally, this covered bridge spanned Little Rush Creek on Rushville Road, between West Rushville and Rushville. The first gristmill in Richland Township was located nearby. It was built by Moses Plummer in 1808. The first sawmill in the township was built on the property by Wilson and Hamill a few years later. |
