Bowman Mill Covered Bridge

The Bowman Family were pioneers of Reading Township. George Bowman settled in the township in 1802. George's son, Bernard, built a gristmill along Little Rush Creek around 1810. Bernard successfully operated the mill for several decades. Bernard's son, Joel, purchased the mill and a small tract of land in 1863. Joel built a sawmill nearby shortly after he acquired the property. Joel was known as a success miller and farmer.

This covered bridge was built by a member of the Bowman Family. Originally, it spanned Little Rush Creek on Wine Gardner Road, near New Reading.
