I believe this house was built around 1879 for John F. Dollinger. John was born in Germany on May 14, 1831. He served 6 years in the army there. He fought in two small wars and suffered a few gunshot wounds in battle. He made Corporal and ended his duty as Second Lieutenant. He made the long voyage to the United States in 1861. He eventually settled in Highland County in 1879. John owned 104 acres of land in Highland County and 125 acres of land in Clinton County, which he farmed. His marriage with Amelia Sinning in 1864 resulted in 6 children.
