The Hocking Valley Brewery was built in 1904-1905. The company called their beer Hock Hocking. The Great Depression forced the brewery to cease the operation in the 1930's. Even to this day, it remains the tallest building in Nelsonville. There has been numerous plans to restore it, none of which have materialized.
