Mr. Green owned much of the land in this area. Green's Mill was located nearby. After leaving this canal lock, the canal entered the Hocking River and used it as a slackwater for a short distance. The canal exited the river before returning just above Enterprise and using it as a slackwater once again.

Most of the sandstone has been buried by flooding.
