Lock # 26

This was the final lift lock on the Hocking Valley Canal. The canal boats would enter the Hocking River after leaving this canal lock, heading south. A slackwater allowed the canal boats to safely travel down the river.

Joseph Herrold's Salt Works was located next to this canal lock. A small basin was dug out next to it. The company used the basin to load and unload barrels of salt onto the canal boats.
