Lima Tuberculosis Hospital

The Lima Tuberculosis Hospital was one of the first hospitals in Ohio to treat tuberculosis. The doors were officially opened on April 5, 1911. The building was enlarged from 1927-1928 due to an increase in tuberculois patients. A new main section was built between the 2 original wings. In 1957, the building was remodeled to provide enough room for 138 patients. The name was changed to the Ottawa Valley Hospital in 1960. After that, the hospital began accepting patients that didn't have tuberculosis. By 1961, the hospital had reportedly treated 5,000 patients over a 50 year span. The hospital was forced to close down due to budget cuts in 1973. This building has been abandoned ever since.
