McCoy Homestead

This house was built in 1835 for James B. McCoy. The McCoy Family is considered to be the oldest family in Union Township. The earliest known members of the family were Joseph, Thomas, and John McCoy. They are descendants of the Dunlap Clan that acquired roughly 5,000 acres of land in Ross County at a very early date. I believe the original log cabin out back was built by Joseph McCoy. It was considered a palace by many people in the area back then. It has since collapsed. There's a smokehouse, barn, outhouse, and a cellar out back as well.
