McCoy House

This house was built in 1835 for James B. McCoy. The McCoy Family were pioneers of Union Township (Ross County). The earliest known members of the family were Joseph, Thomas, and John McCoy. They were descendants of the Dunlap Clan, who acquired roughly 5,000 acres of land in this area after the Virginia Military District was opened for settlement. I believe the log cabin out back was built by Joseph McCoy. It was considered a palace by many people in the area.
