Lock # 18

This forgotten and rarely seen canal lock is hidden in the woods near Lockville. The canal boats would cross Walnut Creek through a slack-water after leaving this canal lock, heading south, and pass through a guard lock. A dam upstream created a slackwater, which allowed the canal boats to safely cross. A towpath bridge allowed the mules and leader to safely cross. A lock tender was stationed here. He was responsible for this canal lock and the guard lock.
