Lock # 26



The village of Lockbourne was founded in 1831 by Col. James Kilbourne. Lockbourne had a gristmill, sawmill, and a distillery. The canal locks were built in 1829-1830 by the master masons of the Granville Company. The first canal boat passed through the village on September 25, 1831.
