This house was built in the early to mid 1800's for Simon Ratcliff. Simon was born on August 23, 1800. He was the youngest of 10 children. His parents, John and Ruth Ratcliff, traveled by wagon from North Carolina to Ohio shortly after his birth. Simon eventually settled in Liberty Township, married Rachel Dixon in 1820, and had 11 children. He owned nearly 700 acres of land. Besides being a farmer, he also operated a store in Londonderry for 20 years.
