Ruffner Covered Bridge



The Ruffner Family were among the early settlers of Richland Township in Fairfield County. Emanuel Ruffner moved from Virginia to Ohio in 1805. Emanuel fought in the Revolutionary War. His son, Jacob, fought in the War of 1812.

Originally, this covered bridge spanned the Fairfield Branch of Rush Creek on Gun Barrel Road, near Rushville. Members of the Ruffner Family still owned the land when it was built. It was moved from Fairfield County to Perry County in 1986.
