Rummell Mill

This mill site was established in the 1840's by Jacob Armentrout. In 1850, Daniel J. Rummell purchased the property and built this sawmill. He also built a dam and a 1,000 foot long millrace. The millrace channeled water from Clear Fork into the mill, where it was used to turn the 8 foot overshot waterwheel. In the 1880's, he replaced the waterwheel with 2 turbines. The Stetzel Family purchased the mill in 1909. They operated it up until 1918. Rummell Mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
